The sun is shining the snow is melting (and will refreeze later) I met up with Giggles, we enjoyed new things at our usual place, gossiped a bit, had some good natured ribbing over hockey teams and she presented me with the best-est gift I get all year...
Now it takes a true Russell Crowe fan to truly enjoy this calendar and only a select few are so graced to see the work of one lone Canadian woman but man is it GOOD. Makes that space in my beige box all the brighter... that and my Gladiator poster and my "A Good Year" poster... it a beige box people I've GOT to do something with it... Besides are you really going to argue with a woman who has the movie poster of Gladiator on her wall? Really?
I thought not.
I have made my way home, found my kitchen under the 600 pounds of dishes I left from last night's dinner and the laundry is almost done. Boys and Girls - this is what the good life is all about. Now remember this when I'm whining about busy weekends and being over booked because I've done it to myself. And I know this but if I don't complain somewhere, some how I will just bust - and trust me that won't be pretty. We all have our escape valves that one is mine... yes bitching and moaning - I am a chick. Deal with it. Well that and hockey game - at full volume-- mine.
Although I did learn today that going outside to a large open space (like a park) opening ones arms and shouting nothing very loudly is also a great stress reliever and apparently makes you very accepted with the "local population" shall we say? ;-) Apparently Giggles said that was the advice she gave to a friend and when she took it literally - the reply was "it worked" along with "the winos think I'm one of them". Like I said - life doesn't get much better than that now does it?
Short visit today I'm going to bury my nose in a book and enjoy these last minutes of peace and quiet - well... to a point as the movie Bubba is currently watching has had in the last 5 minutes repeated use of the F-bomb the sound of power tools and people screaming "I'll talk" if this was Monday I'd say he's watching 24 - but he's not... *sigh* his taste in movies still sucks.
Ah well... this is why I read...
Stay warm, stay dry and to the person doing to snow dance (probably owns the local ski hut) cut it out already - there are threats of more 'weather' this week. ENOUGH ALREADY. Really - not kidding - for sure. Cripes and criminy. That is all.
It's what on my mind today chatting to everyone and no one. Its cheap therapy for me ;-)

The next time I want fried chicken...
I'm going to Popeyes... cripes and holy cow. Yours truly attempted fried chicken tonight. Now on the upside, it was cooked all the way through, it tasted and looked OK, but cripes what a mess. It was contained to that one pot, and I'm not looking forward to cleaning THAT one tomorrow. And I used a Paula Deen recipe those have rarely failed and this one didn't but cripes that was a lot of work for all that. I'll pay Jose at Popeyes next time, less mess, less clean up and prep time.
And now on to complaint number 2: more snow. Yes boys and girls you read that right - we've got more snow. Now last night the last weather report I heard was storm to the south we should see about an inch or so and that's it... there was an inch on the ground at 10 AM and it kept coming... all day long. According to Bubba, who is well on his way to making up for missing the 2 feet we had in December, there is probably about 6 inches on the ground and another 2 have fallen since he's shoveled the driveway. So 8 more inches of snow. I don't live in snow country people I live in DC - the news tonight said to drive 1o miles on the beltway was going to take you 90 minutes. 90! Not that I had any idea to go out into that mess by then but yeesh.
Not to mention this did put my Saturday meet, eat and gossip session off by 24 hours but hey at least we are still meeting - I don't care if I have to put runners on the truck - we're outta here tomorrow - briefly anyway.
And please mark this post for those of you playing along at home - Aunt Ing is done cooking for the next 2 weeks. Bubba is leaving town - and I'm done. We've almost finished all the leftovers, and that bit of chicken and noodles we had today - will last me until at least Wednesday. Done and done. If you can't nuke it up in the microwave or have it "to go" we ain't eating. I can't imagine doing this for an entire family on a regular basis - now I know why Valium was invented. What? Yeah so, I'm a pampered princess - read up and pay attention that bit of information has been here... ;-)
So, a surprise Saturday at home, my last free weekend until April, so I really can't complain about a snow day.
Now Bubba doing our taxes - oh yeah I can gripe. He's sitting on this very computer, and the questions start about charity giving - did you do this - did we do that- what does 2 blinds with hardware mean, you really need to be specific - what are kitchen containers - were they plastic. I'm amazed I wasn't drunk by 3. But no I exercised self-control and frankly it was a mood thing - too early to start drinking - and we're out of Coke to go with the rum. I told you the snow caught me off guard! You must always have provision when the weather turns.... :-)
So now it is late into the evening, Bubba has been fed and is happily watching bad TV in his lazy boy, the pups have been bathed, their bedding all washed, and now our clothes are getting washed - and yes after a very complete scrubbing of the washer to rid ourselves of dog hair... it's a glamorous life I lead isn't it?
Now - does anyone have any good ideas for a new washer? Mine has a bladder control problem, you give it a heavy load and it leaves a puddle on the floor. I'm off to go exploring the wide world of new washing machines, if I nod off just hit the escape key will ya? It will zap me awake.
Take care - stay warm and will someone please turn off the snow machine? Thank you.

Missed a day...
Because things were so quiet... nothing exciting - but there was when I thought about it then it was too late in the night to think about getting back on the computer.. so today will have several tid-bits of this and that in the usual random thoughts of the day kinda way... or in other words my whiddle brain is bouncing about and you all get to enjoy the ride... lol
First got a call night before last from darling brother - and what I consider monumental restraint I did not mention the re-gifting lesson and subsequent tap dancing that recently took place in his life... yes it was monumental... I had lines a plenty "So, Kev heard you had to pull the old razzle-dazzle because you're wife is an idiot" -- "So, Kev heard your informer nailed you to the wall last week" --- "So, Kev heard you pissed off The Nana - not good - now I remember why you don't have any Italian God parents - we're even worse... " I had a million of 'um! Well maybe not a million but they were there.. BUT again I said NOTHING I simply talked to my brother, graciously expressed my happiness at the invite to my niece's 3rd birthday party (Bubba will be gone, I don't want to spend an entire weekend alone...).
I did however, question a 3 year old's birthday party at a bowling alley but hey could be fun. We'll see! What I thought was really funny was Zoe got on the phone and asked if I was coming to her birthday party I said I was.. then she asked to talk to Nana. Apparently that is the association - Aunt Ing and Nana great the kid thinks I live at home. LOL. Hey, the last and only time she's been to my house she was just 6 months old. Can't blame the kid. Maybe if they make it down to see the Cherry Blossoms this spring she'll think differently. Kevin kept trying to explain to her that Nana wasn't there - she was at her house - "I wanna talk to Nana" finally "She's not home" and - interest was lost and off she went... ah to be three.
The next story I have for you boys and girls takes a bit of set up... in my ladies group there was on lady who is seen off and and locally, she's alright but not exactly my favorite person and frankly I never thought she thought much of me either... hey I didn't have to deal with her that much nor she me... with these groups you try to get along life is too short for all this foolishness. ANY WHO... as she is on the local email list and when I sent out a message asking for help for the girl's group Used book sale... she replied with a series of questions.. none of which I thought much of at the time... until she called me directly last night.
She said that she had worked on pulling together a fund, and what we didn't raise to cover the girls who's parents are unemployed (we have 2) she would make sure that the girls got to go. (insert long silent pause here of my stunned amazement!!) I was nearly in tears over the generosity of the gift, and frankly the source... so I am still going to work very hard so I don't have to ask her for much... but still even if it's 100 bucks it is still 100 bucks parents who are struggling don't have to pay. I am still amazed by this - just stunned. And it adds another brick in the wall of people are basically good - until they prove to me otherwise.
And yesterday at work, our embattled Test Manager came to ME for advise how to get what he needs out of the folks at the off site office. ME! Of course I had some suggestions - I always have 2 cents to put into a conversation... I'm a woman y'all no matter the topic we'll have some kind of opinion. Live with it boys. But in all seriousness I was very surprised that he asked me, I never see myself as the one who has good ideas. I know my strengths, I can make a list and deal with paperwork with the best of them.. and make my point with volume when necessary. :-) So as I drove home last night it felt good for that moment to have a co-worker ask you for a idea and state that what you said was helpful and useful. Go figure.
Today appears before me as a quiet day work wise -- but as we all know that could change in the blink of an eye... I've got to make a casserole for tonight's dinner for the men's group - I have everything here (I hope) so that's 45 minutes tops and most of that is cooking the chicken which is fairly simple thanks to my fancy/shamcy convection oven. The rest is chop, measure, grate and stir - pop it into the oven for Martina and me... oh sorry wandered off the path there didn't I?
Bubba? He gets left overs for dinner - after the less than happy response from last night's dinner he can kiss my grits. I made chicken stuffed with spinach with Alfredo sauce and noodles. All I got was "this is new". Butthead. Let him eat sloppy joes - I'm trying to cook dinners and not the same old thing... and all I get is "this is new?" Grrrrr But he's leaving Tuesday for nearly 2 weeks - so the cooking will end soon. Very very soon.
OK - since this is taking a dark turn I think we will sign off for now and see about doing something constructive with our day. Stay warm, and take care of you today.

And we're off...
Or more to the truth - Bubba is off... planning to be gone nearly 2 weeks starting next week... what shall I do? (snicker, snort, laugh - BWAAA HA HA HA) Ahem. Yes, it will be difficult, shouldering the load at home alone - versus ALL the help I get now, and the meals of course will be (not cooked) - er ah - smaller (microwaved - one bowl and done). Shopping for these meals will be (all done the freezer section) - ah a smaller order...
Oh who am I kidding? See -ya! No worries honey I got this... (insert music here... )
LOL - ok now who am I kidding. The true down side is the daily updates will be less entertaining. Oh and did I mention last night the cup appearing in the sink changed to a bowl? Again - clean sink come down this morning - prior to dawn's early light - or even thinking about early light to find... the bowl. At least he runs water into the bowl so you are greeted with the slim encrusted remains of whatever was in said bowl the night before... AND if I'm really really lucky - he's left a paper napkin in there... and now its wet and sloppy and nasty. That boys and girls is a real treat.
Now with these travel plans in place, what kinds of hints should I be dropped regarding the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday... upon which he will be managing to return home... "sometime that day" (direct quote).
My initial statement was to a LARGE bouquet of flowers, i don't think I emphasized the size quiet that much - but I think the intent was there that the gift better be pretty darn good for the length of time gone -and the missing of the Saturday night of Valentine's day weekend and the lack of willingness to go out for a meal once said trip home is completed... oh yeah baby - that better be one big pot o' posies. And there better be something sparkly to go along with it.... yeah there was anniversary bling in October - that was anniversary - this is Valentine's Day - separate and necessary gift giving holidays. (Now boys take note - wanna keep your girl happy - shop within your means but - shopping is necessary. Unless you're really handy and can make something - or they sell flowers at the grocery store - also nice - I am (was- until this trip) perfectly content to accept a lovely dozen or so roses from the grocery store. ) Take note thereof and govern yourselves accordingly.... gentleman.
Now to you girls who think I'm being a bit greedy on a made-up Hallmark-holiday - get over yourselves... I got a list for you that includes, dirty dishes, dirty clothes, vet visits, general clean up remembering every one's birthdays in 2 families, handling all snail mail correspondences, and generally putting up the 'tude I got last night when he had to fix his owner dinner (i.e. reheat what I had already cooked BEFORE my meeting) I should get more than a freaking bunch of daisies!! But I like daisies, and I like flowers so - isn't it good for him I'm an easy gift accepter.
So - I am now off to head home, cook his dinner and probably eat before he manages to get home... its a life. Well at least it's mine. More later.

A monday funny...
And a thought - I was going to post how Bubba is in mid-PMS as something crawled up his backside from the time he rolled out of bed until he left for work (total lapsed time 40 minutes including shower) ... but then I got this from Mom, it's funny and it makes me feel better about the size of my jeans... ladies enjoy - gentleman (if there are any who read this - get a chick to explain it to you...)
I have no idea if this is true--- don't care.
Recently in a large city in France, a poster featuring a young thin tan woman appeared in the window of a gym. It said, "This Summer do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"
A middle-aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.
To whom it May Concern:
Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans). They have an active sex life, get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins stuffing themselves with shrimp.
They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia, the Bering Sea, and the coral reefs of Polynesia. Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CD's. They are incredible creatures and virtually have not predators other than humans. They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone in the world.
Mermaids don't exist... If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identify crisis. Fish or human? They don't have a sex life because they kill men who get close to them, not to mention how could they have sex? Just look at them - where is IT?
Therefore, they don't have kids either. Not to mention, who wants to get close to a girl who smells like a fish store?
The choice is perfectly clear to me: I want to be a whale.
P.S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids (nieces), a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver, and a piece of chocolate with my friends.
With time, we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out to the rest of our bodies.
So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy. Beginning today when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, "Good grief, look how smart I am!"
Amen sister - Amen. 'nuff said for a rainy Monday.

Sunday - Sunday...
Can't touch that day... wait - that song was Monday Monday... sorry. And if you are not familiar with the Mama's and the Papa's well - go i-tune it and get into some 60's folks music - you know back when people could sing and play an instrument ... Oh look boys and girls my inner geezer has just appeared - won't this be fun? lol
And right out the of gate I wandered off the beaten path... but if you don't wander off the path every now and again how will ever find something new you know like a flower or a bird or a dead body... and we've just wandered into CSI territory haven't we? My brain is just kinda dancing all over the place today. The weekend has been pretty good, had a girl's group thing Saturday that went Ok Bubba was at work, we had spicy Chinese lettuce wraps and egg rolls for dinner - I made the lettuce wraps - Trader Joe's did the egg rolls... I love Trader Joe's... always something fun and some staples I just love... the stores in VA have wine too... tried a couple for $5.00 not bad. Today has been almost as equally quiet - Bubba was up early and went into work, I lounged about the bed with the pups, read a bit, finally showered, made a grocery list (and a dinners for the week) - all this efficiency the good fairy is coming soon to bop me on the head with the chaos stick... wait for it...
And for my final truly random thought for this rainy-lazy Sunday? Mom called today - sorry no more good stories of re-gifting and the informer but one where she is sitting in church (Old person trying to get into heaven... see Bill Cosby for context) and she was thinking of the top hat and tails and my brother's poor attempt at dancing about the truth... then she remembered the court room scene in Chicago (the new one, Richard Gere stars here) then she began remembering the song, "The old Razzle Dazzle" then put my brother in the starring role... in church. So what does one say when sitting in church giggling and humming the 'the Old razzle dazzle?" Well considering the church and the average age of the folks there regularly - they would probably mutter something about her meds needing adjusting... me - well I'm the fiery train trip to haties - it will be nice to see some family members and friends when I get there.. LOL
Truly random Sunday... hold your breath as to what Monday could bring...

Well considering the church and the average age of the folks there regularly - they would probably mutter something about her meds needing adjusting... me - well I'm the fiery train trip to haties - it will be nice to see some family members and friends when I get there.. LOL
Truly random Sunday... hold your breath as to what Monday could bring...

Out of the mouths of babes...
Or - when one 're-gifts' don't do it in front of the "informer". (Now you Bill Cosby fans will get that - the rest of you - go rent "Bill Cosby Himself.")
Now as my day slowly wound down yesterday to it's oh so quiet end... Mom called. Nothing unusual, Mom called to vent... again nothing earth shattering - the topic? Now that boys and girls is where the fun began... First see my first statement and think about that as we weave the tale...
Mom gave her granddaughters a gift, not cheap but requested, hey its for the grand children, K-mart had a sale it's all good. So gift was given at Christmas, received, and accepted with gratitude. Fast forward 3 weeks to yesterday, Nana is visiting the grand children and they are using said Christmas gift. When the informer says that this gift was from her Grandmother (Nana is Mom Grandma is the other side of the family - you know in-laws) when Nana corrected the little informer - she then INFORMED Nana that HER gift (same gift) was re-wrapped and given to another girl... (in-law family friend with a daughter - and someone Nana is not particularly fond of...)
Let me repeat that in small words... the gift that my Mom gave to her Grandchildren was re-wrapped and given to ANOTHER little girl - in front of - and with full knowledge of the 6 year old grand child. Nope - can't make this stuff up... the truth is just to freaking funny - and very very tacky.
Now what can we gain from this tale of classless idiocy? 1) When re-gifting be sure to do so outside of connecting social circle or family members 2) DON'T DO IT IN FRONT OF YOUR 6 YEAR OLD - who will then rat you out make you look like a tacky idiot and 3) don't live outside your means when trying to impress your friends - be who you are it works better in the end.
Now apparently my brother brought out the top hat, tails and tap shoes as he tried in vain to spin and dance a tale that his mother might swallow - after his daughter had spilled the beans upon which he was now dancing. But as that tale was such a whopper of a story - it didn't go down well - and in fact came spewing back to me... and that just took a really gross turn of phrase didn't it? Sorry. Yeah - really sorry. Long story short - Brother tried to sell, Nana didn't buy...
The other turn in our tale of stupid and classless moves was dear old dad, now most times he's the talker-down, the smoother of ruffled family feathers, and generally only blows a gasket when he's off his meds or its really been building... he called me... same topic. Only now he's the one disappointed - and that means a lot. I haven't called home yet to get a next day update but I will and if its as entertaining as this tale - oh you betcha Aunt Ing will be spilling those beans too...
Now I will not claim complete innocence in the re-gifting department - there have been gifts given that simply aren't me or don't work with me - and they manged to find a good home elsewhere... outside the social/family circle in which they were given... and since I don't have a 6-year old informer I don't have that extra bit of something to watch out for... dogs tell no tales but they do other things I don't appreciate...
Today's lesson boys and girls? Re-gifting is a time honored tradition among adults... when it comes to kids gifts - well that is what the gift receipt is for... perhaps I should invest in a copy of Emily Post for my brother and his family - will they get it? ;-)
More tomorrow - post family phone call - and dinner with Bubba... who has been working like a whipped dog but was in a surprisingly good mood this morning... will be searching for the drugs later... stay tuned...

Ah - telecommuting...
Its a life isn't it? Its Friday, and I'm working from home, its raining with chunks falling from the sky. The roads are wet, I'm sure the standard "bridges and overpasses" are slippy (that's yinzer for slippery) but it doesn't matter because I'm home and I don't have to go anywhere today!
So the work from home wardrobe is sweatpants and warm sweatshirt, and puppies now settled in one sleeping, one chewing her bone - I'll leave it to you to guess which was which. And on the pup health update, Shelby is doing much better, very little gimping, Violet's tooth is the same but we've established a routine to brush puppy teeth post dinner. Oh yeah it's fun time at Aunt Ing's house post puppy dinner. But Nana was right you have to take care of your children.
Today promises to be very quiet nothing going out the door, I have not a great deal to do but I'm not bored! Plenty to keep me busy, no worries there--- plus I get to listen to Pittsburgh sports radio bemoan losing to the Washington Caps - better than listening to the DC sports radio crow about beating the Stanley Cup champs... that's OK... we've got another 3 chances during the regular season and there is always the playoffs....
For once Bubba didn't complain about leftovers for dinner - and I'm cooking again tonight so he's getting leftovers this weekend too... we'll see what Sunday brings. I foresee sloppy Joe's one night next week, there are 3 cans of sauce in the pantry, apparently I forget I have it. OH I could try and make it healthy with ground turkey but we tried that once - once - Bubba said not to do that again. So I get lean ground beef and do my best, plus I do serve a veggie with that - and if you believe the commericals there is a serving or something of veggies in the sauce. I don't think that really counts - but hey they have to make it sound almost healthy right? LOL
At work there was an interesting series of events that started Monday came to loud discussion in the office next to mine yesterday and rumors of personnel movement. One of our lead folks said he wasn't getting something he needed from Alabama folks (not unusual) but the Alabama folks said they didn't know anything about it - he said he said ensued, the Boss asks me what I think quietly in my office - I told him what I know the guy up here is working hard - he has said things were coming his way - shouting yesterday (see the post yesterday) and now from my partner in crime at work said something about replacing said person in Va... among other personnel changes. Well we have to as a whole section of folks lost their work last week, so the boss is trying to save as many people as he can... be interesting if he tries to get them to work were I work - they hate that commute almost as much as I do. hee hee hee
Ah well... stay tuned some thing interesting might happen today. Don't count on it. ;-)
Later!
Oh - and my computer now threatening to reboot in 24 minutes - what joy I wonder if we're back to the every hour on the hour reboot because something didn't install correctly.. .yeah Large Nameless Corporation IT (big brother) is at it again... *sigh*

The slide to the end of the week... is blocked.
Traffic this morning - well there were a LOT of folks in front of me - and for the hour I left there really shouldn't have been ..
So get to work, handle the 15 minutes worth of actual work waiting for me, make another hours worth of work - ignore the need to clean off my desk and we've gotten to ... 11:30 AM. What to do with the rest of the day... I have gotten the girls' group paper work organized, resisted the temptation to clean off my desk, ran to Target for dinner side dish, and got some pop - it called me and it's cheaper than the vending machine, and we are now to 2:15.
Shoot me.
Boss is here - but he's in closed door meetings all day so I could be in Pittsburgh for all he's noticed me. And that boys and girls is a good thing. But not the lack of work. I am not complaining about being bored - oh no - we did that and boy did it bit us in the backside... nope not complaining.
Actually right now I'm wondering how to listen to the loud discussion in the office next to mine without standing at the door or standing at my wall with a drinking glass (btw coffee cup doesn't work) What? Like you wouldn't try it - yeah yeah lie me. You so would.
Tonight brings the promise of left overs (I have cooked all week - I know!!) and the beloved "wintery-mix" By the way doesn't that sound like a DJ name for Nome, Alaska radio? Just wandered didn't I? Any way... as such with Mr. Mix promising to muck up the Friday morning drive in-- Aunt Ing will be home. Working yes but home. (and no comments about the working part) And with me being home - we will have Chinese chicken lettuce wraps - with proper Szechan sauce.
The weekend thus far looks like - me with a couple of hours with the girls, and Bubba working Saturday. Sounds like fun doesn't it? ;-) Stay tuned there is always the potential of Bubba to do something interesting with his time off...
Wintery Mix here in Nome - its January guess what Alaska? It's snowing and it's going to keep snowing snuggle up with a loved one and this hot lick.... (I need help)

OMG- 2 days!
We haven't talked in two whole days! My goodness - oh I remember yesterday at work the Internet kept going up and down... apparently Large Nameless Corporation wanted us to be productive the Tuesday after a 3 day weekend... I was to a point. ;-)
Monday was super-fab Bubba had to go to work - and I didn't bwaaha ha ha ha... OK that wasn't nice, poor boy is working so hard. But Monday I was very productive, I got up after Bubba left for work, got my act together and went grocery shopping -- for the whole week. I have dinners planned and a list together -- yes I was organized. A strange occurrence in my world I know but there it was.
Now due to changing work schedules we've had to rearrange the dinners but things are on track and on time. I enjoyed the quiet day, didn't log on at all - oh wait I did. We have another doggie saga.,.. Shelby is on the mend, Violet has some gross looking thing over her tooth - so I called my resident tooth expert - aka Mom, then sent her some semi-blurry pictures of the issue and she gave me some suggestions. I had to call her Monday night when I went to follow her suggestions and the gross thing did something else gross and I had to call mom... ick.. could have been worse there could be blood or ooze of some sort. We don't do ooze or blood well - or at all.
And on a side note do you have any idea how hard it is to hold open a dog's mouth keep her head still, and operate a digital camera? it's not easy - and you get fuzzy pictures - sorry Mom.
OK so Bubba was happy Monday night for when he arrived home from work, he had dinner on the stove, everything ready all he had to do was scoop, heat and eat. Which he did. Oh and did I mention there was lemon pound cake as well? There was... (and no I don't know what came over me... I was channelling Mary the super mom-housewife from 1953 - but I wasn't wearing the dress or the pearls.)
Tuesday found ourselves heading out to work, no big deal, the boss is in town and I spent my day in meeting after meeting after meeting after meeting.... you get the point. By 4:30 I really didn't want to talk to another person - well about work. Got home, tossed together some dinner - gave Bubba his birthday card - which he liked. He fielded calls from family wishing him a happy day. There were snippy comments about what his wife got him for his birthday - I took him out to dinner!! I made reservations to one of his favorite places. Yeesh - he can't take that back to the store! I thought it was a nice thing. Did I mention homemade lemon pound cake?
His buddy at work emailed the world according to Bubba and apparently he was getting birthday wishes from folks he spoke to only occasionally. Frankly I thought that was very funny. Then he pulled the the nice guy card and took Bubba out for coffee and a gourmet cupcake - and I can assure you he won't do that again. Bubba on sugar and caffeine - is akin to a 5 year old unsupervised with the Halloween candy... flying high and spaze-bot all over the place.
While the dinner wasn't gourmet - it was edible, hot and ready when he got home. Happy Birthday here eat this - you didn't have to shop for it, prepare it, or clean up afterwards. Everyday is Bubba's birthday. And Ms. Snippy is back.
So this morning, I was up EARLY and on my way only to hit... break lights - no I didn't literally hit them but apparently a tracker trailer lost its load on the beltway - and I sat there almost on the beltway... stopped dead in my tracks.... for 30 minutes. So much for getting in early. But it's early enough that I can leave early and tend to more Ladies' Group banking issues. I will never do this again either! Cripes already. They can prove we exist through some website -we've shown them our 90 year old hand written charter, (which they now have to make a copy of) and now they want meeting minutes - a fact they didn't bother to mention either of the 2 previous visits......... Sigh. But we're meeting, we're dealing and next year - I won't be doing this again!
And now we're into Wednesday - I am NOT at home, because Friday promises to be a poopy weather day so I decided to come in Wednesday and stay home Friday. Watch it rain. Not to mention the boss is at the other office today so he never would have known I didn't come in.
Tonight's dinner was prepped last night and I left a note for Bubba to turn on the crock pot - it's taped to the window of his car - he'll remember. We'll see what turns out tonight - but same thoughts - you didn't have to shop for it, prepare it or clean up afterwards... eat it and hush.
Well that was enough dumping for 2 days absent - I'm surprised Mom didn't call. ;-)
Talk to you later - probably tomorrow as the rest of the day promises to be very very quiet.
And for those of you interested - Shelby appears to be on the mend, which makes life harder as she doesn't like being on the leash in the backyard... another 3 weeks should prove to be very entertaining.

Rainy Sunday... (it's a sing along!)
Or maybe it's just a sing along in my head... We could also add "We're having heat wave... a tropical heat wave..." OMG 50 degrees the last couple of days - I darn near broke out the bathing suits and suntan oils. But as I had other callings yesterday and Friday - well...
Day 4 of walking my dog in the back yard... a much easier prospect since I spent 45 minutes and 4 grocery bags later picking up doggie presents. Thankfully when I was 3/4's done Bubba decided to come outside and help. He has his moments.
In a bit of scary neighborhood gossip we had an incident yesterday. As we were outside tending to the back yard we hear screaming - now my first thoughts are kids - it was nice outside and I am sure more than one mother said - go outside and play I don't care how dirty you get. Just get out. Or maybe that is another reason why I haven't been sent children... a thought to ponder later. Anyway... then the tone and the text of the screaming changes - very high pitched and the words 'help me' come out. Now I send Bubba to the front yard - the neighbor is already across the street and sees our neighborhood wife beater. Groovy. Bob goes insides, calls the county police and we all hear sirens but none in the neighborhood - they either turn them off when they got close or - got lost. I'm hoping like heck for the first. We didn't see them directly as they were on the first turn off of the neighborhood... but it shakes you to your core.
My advice - get out, get a gun and know how to use it - he comes at you again - shoot off his manhood and if he keeps coming - really let him have it.... But I'm old school.
NOW - that fun was sandwiched between two girl group events where we ask the Mason's of the county to pony up a buck to help send them to their State convention... they know us we know them it's all good. What was NOT all good was getting up early on a Saturday morning and having to don pantyhose and a dress... getting into hose at 8:00 AM on a Saturday morning frankly is not an natural act. But that was done, Bubba and I had lunch together, he went off to see a guy-flick with his buddy, I went and had a manicure and we met back home for a late night snack of pizza and bad tv...
And on a side note, when enjoying said late night snack, don't fall asleep on the couch - I was sitting up so the indigestion was limited but the dreams when I went to bed were freaky. Woke up with one monster headache... definitely not the smart move.
And now it is Sunday it's raining, its a bit chilly but not the bone crushing cold of early in the month and I've got reservations to one of Bubba's favorite places for dinner. Happy Birthday you old coot. And on the total up side? I have Monday off but Bubba does not... BWAA HA HA HA...
More later!

Its Friday... thank goodness
The traffic gods were kind today... the weather is almost pleasant... work is flowing along ...
I screwed up the instructions for Shelby... apparently limited activity is when you let her out - you have to go with her - on a leash. Cripes. Anyone want blackmail material - be in my back yard tomorrow morning for that first 'visit' of the day - should be fun.
The vet called to ask how she was doing - my description led to my misunderstanding of limited activity... what fun this will be. Won't this be fun? They will think they are going on a walk, and when we walk about the back yard - in desperate need of a good ah - pick up - you've got to watch your steps as well as the dog's. Oh yeah this couldn't possibly be too much trouble - FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH.
Bubba is home tonight - won't that be fun. I've got to clean up the kitchen, those 6 dishes must go into the dishwasher, change the sheets, and that's about it. The weekend is only half booked, I made a reservation for Bubba's birthday on Sunday night... hopefully he will be happy. I doubt it but let's maintain a small slice of optimism shall we? Hum?
And I've managed to book my afternoon to be in two places at the same time - should be fun... Actually I've got that bit of space/time continuum issues worked out - going to be late for one and a bit early for the first - we'll see how this works out.
On the total upside last night - was SO not in the mood to cook even for me... went out for pizza... and got stuck behind the biggest PITA couple I have had the misfortune to be stuck behind. Let me 'splain... I called my order in - small pepperoni. Simple. I walk in to get my pizza and in walk (shove) their way ahead of me - Mr. and Mrs. PITA only I'm guess Mrs. PITA has either her maiden name or that hyphenated Great-PITA. I digress...
So Mrs. PITA begins... do you have this sub? Great I would like 1 of those without this and that. (Now - as an aside I do say hold the tomatoes a great deal... np so far - well except for the shove to get in the door before me... but we'll let that go)
So, Sub 1 ordered - then SHE KEEPS GOING, I would like fries - does is come with the fries? No, Ok fine, I'd like an order of the ravioli appetizer - does that come with sauce? Big or little can I get two of those? Yes and I would like the chicken wrap - what kind of cheese does that come with - Ok but hold the onions and peppers and I'd like.... on and on for better part of half my life... or maybe it just felt this way---AND the kick in the pants - this chick did not look like diet pills before picture! She was normal! (i.e. not fat not overly skinny) Where was she putting all this???
Then Mr. PITA steps up - He wants his sub - his way then asks his plethora of questions finally the genius behind the counter - who I really felt bad for, as after me a line formed the phone was ringing... yeah these two really gummed up the works!!! The boy genius is finally is able to communicate through mumbles and grunts the time and cost of the order from hell - and frankly there should be surcharge on that kind of foolishness... Sally (Bubba - my sister - me hold the tomatoes) We all can move on.
My transaction - pick up small peperoni for Angela. It was ready, I paid, I left. Total time expended... 5 minutes. TOPS. But all the foolishness was washed away by the pizza and the satisfying of the craving for several days.... ahhhh
It would be wrong to go to be right after I get home tonight right? Yeah the girls need love - and dinner - and left out on a leash in her own back yard... cripes. Stay tuned for more tales from the non-walk walk.

Shelby Update...
Shelby is home and thirsty. It's an after effect of being knocked out. But they tell you not to give too much water unless you want to see it again - I don't. So she's got a drink and I moved the bowl - and she wants more... Shelby is not happy right now.
I'll give it another 15 minutes if I am not cleaning up yuck - then she can have more...
Her condition? She's got a messed up elbow on her front right leg. The Vet showed me the x-ray and it's obvious. He said this has been building and she probably jarred a bone fragment that caused the pain she's in now. So, plan for now anti-inflammatory drugs for 2 weeks and limited activity for a MONTH. For SHELBY. Now he does understand we are talking about Shelby, so no long walks (it's been to cold anyway) no ball chasing in the back yard (will have to tell the dog walker next door) and limit play at home. Can you give a dog NyQuil? (JOKE people joke)
Our hope now is that the drugs work, and we just have to manage flare ups and not something painful she'll have to live with for the rest of her days... cross your fingers.

Another day... smaller drama
Sort of... woke up got moving flipped on the TV for weather and traffic - 270 shut down at 6:00 AM - oh groovy... a gas truck caught fire on an ramp over the major commuter highway... what fun. Well, I'm Ok right now in the fact I've got to get Shelby to the vet so maybe by the time I have to head Southbound it will be cleared up... it mostly was but the beltway had another issue so I weighed the 1 hour plus it would take me to get into the office and the 1 hour plus it would take me to get home.... it was a much better use of my time to go home and get on line.
So I did. And glad I did as I logged on I got my first review of the day - done and returned. All before I would have been in the office. Go figure.
So, Shelby is at the Vet's and Dr. Brad is checking her out - we're waiting a phone call to tell me what's going on. What I know now is her elbow is a problem what I don't know is this a one time thing or something she is going to have to deal with from now on. Shelby is 8 years old plus a bit - she was a rescue so we're not sure the exact date... ANYWAY... she's 8 and a bit - such a girl way to put an age isn't it? lol
Violet is sleeping on a blanket - after she sniffed me up and down upon returning from Dr. Brad's. I wonder if the pups remember that smell? I know I have to have the only dog in history who likes going to the Vet. She got all kinds of excited but it was still obvious she had a boo-boo. She sat with her paw up - makes her so sad... but her tail keeps wagging and she's so happy go figure.
Now I sit here home, alone, waiting for the next thing to review for the mass of deliveries that have suddenly become due Friday. The next one will wait until I go get Shelby... it's just how my life works. I will update when we have news...

I knew it...
I just flipping knew it --- I angered the traffic gods... what was I thinking? stupid, stupid, stupid.
Time left the office 5:25 PM... time arrived home... 6:55PM.
Now if that wasn't bad enough - Shelby has figured out how to get out of her crate unless you latch both latches completely. Now I have reminded the young man who lets the pups out in the afternoon that this is occurring -he swears he checked, but for me that is a non issue Shelby is not terribly destructive, she sits in the front window and barks at those who goes by...
But... when I got home and when my heart returned to a normal rate - (she startled me again) I noticed that Shelby was walking funny... she was limping. Groovy. I watched her all night, she limped, kept holding up her leg. I checked her paw - I saw nothing I checked her leg found nothing, called the boy next door she was fine yesterday afternoon - and now still this morning she's limping. And for this dog to limp -she's hurting.
So call to the Vet - of course no docs in today (and I'm working from home) - talked to the tech I've got an appointment tomorrow morning. Now the question - do I tell Bubba tonight or wait until I know something tomorrow? I'm tempted to wait until I have some answers that way when the questions come with the news I will have something to tell him. Yeah we'll wait.
I waved the red flag yesterday I asked for it - and boy did I get it... cripes. No more whining about being bored. I, Aunt Ing, hereby pledge and swear that I will never ever again complain that I am bored or things are boring - I will find ways to make things less boring. I swear.
And I have been swearing - yeesh. So the goal for today is to keep Shelby "quiet" yeah - ok. I will turn up the radio, and keep telling her to lay down and relax. But I think she'll be all right, she probably pulled a muscle or something, with any luck we'll get some good drugs and that will be it. Please!?
And all this before 10 AM! See previous pledge- never again.
OK - signing off going to do some work and try not to repeated slap myself in the head for taunting the gods... I knew it... stupid stupid stupid....
Oh and Gigs - thanks for the website alternatives to veggies! ;-)
UPDATE - Standing up right hand raised Bible at the ready... I WILL NEVER EVER STATE I AM BORED EVER AGAIN.... AHHHHHHH Cripes.
Now with an emergency vet visit tomorrow morning and a formal software delivery suddenly popping up on Friday - and 3 more major documentation deliveries due Friday (ask for 2 weeks early thank you very much) I will now be working late tonight - up before the vet appointment - and the potential of working late Thursday and possibly in VERY early Friday to make sure things are done. Can we space this out a bit? hum?? Can we?
Now where is that holy water - there is some bad ju ju here somewhere... yikes and away already.

Snore......
Bored - oh so flipping board...
Oh the day started interesting - after hitting the snooze bar a few times and then a few times more then got moving to work, tried to dial into my Tuesday conference call only to get a text message that 800 numbers now required a 9.99 per month additional plan... WTH? This number has worked before - so I tried again - same stupid message. Well Crap.
Tried again with the third conference call of the day - then after that meeting I looked at my written notes and the electronic notice... whoops - off by one stinking number. Now I see - I'm an idiot. Case closed - never to be spoken of again-- NEVER again. I thought so skippy.
Now for the rest of the day zzzzzzzzzzzz..... three conference calls, done, software in progress not a lot to review...
Oh wait! Some excitement something is wrong with the printer - we all rush to see... turned if off and back on again...whrrrrr... all working again. Crisis averted people stand down.
So with that much fun under one's belt for the day - I'm going home. Perhaps Shelby will do something new - besides bark at me when ever Violet gets attention or dinner isn't coming quick enough... or a leaf has blown by or .... oh heaven help me... I'm going nuts.
I'm going home - perhaps the ride home will be entertaining... oh - oh NO! Not that... let's stick with bored - yeah bored is good. I didn't complain traffic gods - I swear...
I'm doommmeed.....

Welcome to Monday.....groan
Yes it is Monday and yes it is way too early to be up and moving... but here I am. Several things were not working in my favor... first my back decided it wanted to be awake and tight and very very unhappy, since I haven't mastered the art of sleeping in a sitting upright position (Which I did try) I jumped into the nice hot shower and just stood there wondering what my water bill would be if I stayed there for an hour - and if I could nap in there... then made my way into work and NOW my back is feeling better - apparently movement and hot water were the answer... tonight I'm trying drugs - of the legal - over the counter variety - people please.
Second - work is now WAY too quiet. I mean mind numbingly quiet. Staff meeting was only briefly entertaining as we now know that our customer talks to the folks in Alabama and the rest of us can find out dates for stuff - later - we don't need to know in advance. Why cause all that fuss and worry? Really! How silly...
And in a complete change of topics Bubba was jetting West last night - he texted me from his flight while they taxied in Denver. He asked if I had taken care of a birthday detail - I replied not only was the detail tended it was signed, stamped and ready to go a full 2 weeks before the event... and watch me forget to mail it and it will be late anyway... but right now we are lined up and ready to go. (I digress)
He replied - (sit down for this one girls) that he appreciated it and that I was right no one would receive a gift if they had to rely on him-- AND when I replied "who is this and what have you done with my husband" thankfully he replied in full Bubba mode and I didn't have to call the FBI for a possible abduction on an airline! I really must find out what he was drinking on that flight and buy it by the caseload - perhaps even the truck load!! He actually said he was trying to appreciate all those little things I take care of so he doesn't have to... I'll remind him of this later...
But then I'm thinking - the little things? Does that include cooking, laundry etc in addition to the little "hey could ya-s". I will remind him of this again when he starts harping about "lodge crap" as I've got things booked solid until April. And it wasn't my fault - it just sort of happened.
Ah well I'm signing off for today - stay warm, or run in place or burn Al Gore's collective works to stay warm. I'm going home to love the pups and get ready for round two...
Still not terribly exciting but hey - sometimes boring is good. And sometimes it's just boring.

Excccuuussseee ME!
Apparently Bubba heard Mom's comment about the blog not being terribly interesting as of late - and decided he need to dance about a few buttons this morning and make things more entertaining... Thanks.
First - well first it is first thing in the morning - no talking no detailed lists of whatever the heck you find so terribly important and no whining. These are just rules normal decent human beings live by - I mean really who can retain any information at the moment their eyes open. Really.
Now he's up and talking as I am heading downstairs with the dogs... don't ask me what he said I have no clue and frankly wasn't listening. It is a very bad habit of Bubba's that the only time he wants to talk to me is when I'm washing clothes or doing dishes with running water from another room. I am breaking him of this habit but either not answering him or reply something to the effect of "Why do I want to neuter a fish? Is that what you said?" After several nonsensical statements he comes into the room which I am running water and in a huff, imparts the information to which I sweetly reply, "OH! well that makes much more sense I'd be glad to drop that check off at the bank tomorrow. No problem." Then I give him a cookie. What? It worked for the dogs.
So after tending to the pups and heading back up stairs he is in the middle of the longest morning shower in history. And no I haven't figure out if he's the cleanest man in the world or the dirtiest. I think it goes back to his childhood - I don't know this for a fact but I'd lay money that his mother checked post shower just to be sure. What else could he possibly be doing in there? (don't answer that)
So he finally emerges from the shower, dresses looks at me watching the Today show still in my jammies - and says... "going to do anything today?"
Excuse me? What possible wad could your underpants gotten into from the shower to your side of the bed. Six steps tops!! You've been in the shower for an hour - what would you like me to? Stand there with your towel and razor? NOT happening.
My response? A very pithy smirk - look people words don't come smoothly in the morning - so that was as pithy as it was going to get.
THEN - he makes his way down stairs and opens last night's mail - why did he wait? Because I pulled the mail out of my purse last night before I went to bed, because I forgot it was in there. Sue me - so I don't open a piece of mail for 24 hours trust me the world will not end. Bubba doesn't believe that but hey we'll just add that to the list of quirks he doesn't admit to having...
So, he opens the mail and there is a check in there - now I'm upstairs with the TV on, getting my clothes together and he's shouting, "Are doing to do something about this?" I so desperately want to say "My power to see through walls is limited before noon! Could you describe "this?" But I don't I simply grunt, "What?" "this check" "What check" then he describes the check that arrived in the mail yesterday.
Now I ask you - why couldn't you just say that first off and end this conversation by at least a good minute and no one is the shower scrubbing her hair to the point where she might pull out a hank or two. Am I right? Perhaps we need to have that mental telepathy discussion again... (see previous post search somewhere in 2009 - good luck) ;-)
Then the pokes again about the kitchen needing cleaning - which he had the nerve to ask me as I was falling asleep last night if I was going to "take care of this". Had I been more alert he would have been walking to work with a limp-- my aim was off. I told him this morning that the magic dish fairy will again wave her wand and make all that offending dirty dishes disappear....
And don't ask why Bubba can't do this - because he can't I truly believe he is physically unable to do dishes. He'll break out in some strange rash or something. Plus by the time he manages to get home it would be midnight before anything gets done.
And in the bonus round... Aunt Ing is being lazy and is working from home today - plus I'm in a cranky mood - after all that this morning who wouldn't be? But I think it might be PMS - problem is I don't have all the parts for that so I can't really tell anymore... but I have the bits that make women crazy and I think we're in the middle of that.. or maybe I'm just ticked off at Bubba - is that justifiable homicide? Just asking.
Oh and did I mention that the temperature is supposed to go DOWN this weekend? I'm going outside with a spray can... screw the polar bears I'm freezing! And oh joy 3 more inches of snow... at least it looks nice and has covered the mounds of black crusty and gross snow that has been left since the major snow in December.
I'm going to the island - screw this. (yeah still cranky)
First - well first it is first thing in the morning - no talking no detailed lists of whatever the heck you find so terribly important and no whining. These are just rules normal decent human beings live by - I mean really who can retain any information at the moment their eyes open. Really.

I so desperately want to say "My power to see through walls is limited before noon!

Down hill slide to the week...
Well this day has been a series of interesting events... getting out of bed... I actually did it! Made it into work, dropped off Bob's shirts and as there were 10 apparently it's been a while since I did the dry cleaning run... whoops. Hey they aren't mine I forget - remember y'all mornings are not my best time of day.
Commute in was thankfully uneventful - work is still quiet--- until --- the boss comes walking down the hallway - "Conference room 2 minutes". These are never good news meetings. And this one wasn't, we found out that part of the project is being shut down - what part - my part! FUN! On the up side there is enough work to keep both me and the other lady employed and the boss man said not to worry... right. I'm not (much) but I know I'm in the year long queue for another position but there isn't anything I do about the new job --- I just have to wait. Now I could go into a long and detailed discussion as to the whys, hows and what-fors of a year long wait for a job - but then I would have to kill you - so just know this is the way it must be done and leave it at that -m'Kay?
Now I'm sitting at work, counting the seconds until I can go home... and face 3 inches of snow... ITS COMING... sorry. Yeah - yippee more snow, more idiots who can't drive in it making life miserable for the rest of us and I already warned the boss--- if traffic is a mess Aunt Ing's happy fanny will be home. I will not sit 2 hours in my family truckster just to get to work and push the same buttons I could push in the comfy-ness of my own home with puppies snoring at me feet. I'm just saying.
Bubba is getting soup and sandwiches for dinner tonight - do you think I should make green beans? Probably not. - maybe.
Where the heck is this global warming anyway? Because if I bought those new finagled, crappy light bulbs for nothing I'm really going to ticked! Stay warm... if you can.

An update...
Didn't get to donate blood this afternoon... my iron was low... just a hair.... I agreed to be stuck again, and when they tested it - it when DOWN by one tenth of a point!! LOL well maybe not.
If all it takes is 4 drops from my finger to drop my iron by that much perhaps I had better really look into iron rich foods! What fun I will have to look at the list they gave me I'm guess its loaded with veggies and other unfriendly things.
Stay warm.

An exciting new year isn't it?
I didn't post yesterday - you might have noticed, you might not have... but nothing and I do mean nothing exciting happened yesterday. I was up WAY to early worked all day without feeling like I actually did anything productive... ah well.
Left work early - but didn't get home until much later... first getting home but traffic wasn't too bad. Then ran to the Costco, the lodge needed paper towels - I got 3 big packages... we won't run out soon. Then in a fit of selfish I went and got my nails done, they needed it. I had broken 3 since Christmas and that was counting the one we scarified to glass chewing garbage disposal machine at my mom's... So she trimmed then down (and doesn't THAT hurt my feelings) but they are now all nicely shaped painted and ready to go. They look nice.
So, got home, loved the pups and putzed around the house until Bubba got home and made his comments about the chosen veggie for dinner. Apparently we've had green beans twice in 3 days and that was enough (Saturday then again last night) and he wasn't pleased... it's not like he comes up with ideas for dinners... ever.
SO - dinner done Penguins won life last night wasn't so bad.
Wednesday and we slept in for some reason - me I am working at home. Bubba I dunno...
But he was up and gone, I am up showered and have a long list of things to get done - most of this isn't work related. Things for me at work are quiet but I have a feeling this won't last long. Just about the time I could use some quiet time at work as the girls are needing attention things at work will get nuts.. its how my life goes.
Right now I have 3 weekends booked in February... Bubba will not be pleased. I do not know how to effectively communicate the fact that I enjoy going and doing with these folks. Especially the girls - we've got new girls and they are excited to try and learn and do and it gives me new energy to deal with them. This too will pass - after the storm has blown up.. and over. ;-)
I'm going to donate blood today - I haven't been able to do that for a very long time and I don't mind doing it. Folks need it and it's a good thing. If these folks work efficiency I'm in and out in an hour - if I get the rookies then things go longer... such is life. Of course my father did say that I am a slow bleeder so that might be an issue as well LOL.
And now thanks to a girl's group mom's suggestion I've got a used book sale to organize. If you're in the area come donate and then buy more... I've got kids with laid off Dads and under employed parents... ah yes the system is working (not) and they want to go to the state convention... I thought I retired from this job... cripes.
I'm sucking in more Moms in to help and that is a good thing - now if I didn't have to deal with the other adults this wouldn't be such a pita. The kids - no problem - mostly... once you pry the phone out of their hands.
All-right-y then... I am off to do some lunch, then some more work, then 500 pounds of errands then back to the work computer and then 400 other things I've ignored through the month of December and no longer have an excuse for the month of January...
OH - and Bubba is happy with the dinner menu this evening - well I can just die happy.
Later - and stay warm -Aunt Ing.

Was that Toto?
Every time I tried to boot up the computer this weekend the power would flake and I decided to let Mother Nature have her fit and stay off the computer. Saturday afternoon we even "enjoyed" three hours without power. During which Bubba decided was a good time to clean up the office... with one window on the morning sun side of the house... duh.
So, the weekend, COLD, blustery, cold... and not all that busy. We went shopping, returned a couple of things, bought a new bedspread set! It was time, and got a few minor errands run. Sunday found us at the bagel store, then me home to enjoy a few hours of peace and quiet while Bubba was out with his work buddies enjoying the football game.
Now this is where I have to use the Cheap Therapy part of this discussion - where on the planet did it become MY job to take down Christmas? AND where did he get off getting cranky when I asked him to take a box (empty) so I could make one less trip up and down the stairs to the basement... oh you poor thing - so sorry I interrupted your taping receipts to paper - like you can't do that at work - or any other time????
FINE - Go get out - frankly I do better without you... So I put away all the Christmas decorations, cleaned up that closet a bit AND did all the laundry, AND re-hotted dinner... NO I didn't cook Sunday night we ate leftovers after my fairly unsuccessful noodle, ham cheese casserole. It called for peas one, I don't do peas... changed to green beans I thought ti worked but frankly if I do that one again ( probably won't) I'll use my mac and cheese recipe instead.
Digressing.
But then the other thought is... you got up, ate a bagel, went out with your friends and came home and sat on your fanny... then had the nerve to call me lazy this morning? SERIOUSLY?
New year... same old Bubba...
On the up side - he's gone this Sunday for the entire week... see ya hon. I be rotten I know... lol
So, back to work for the entire week - heaven help me. Traffic was doable this AM...
And yeah I'm dancing around the subject I don't want to talk about - 5 loses in a row - to what the radio guys called the bottom feeders of the NFL... and we sit on the outside looking in --- no play offs no more football --- heck I didn't even call Dad yesterday afternoon... it went out with a whimper. Yeah we won... what else is on?
I even flipped back and forth a few times but basically stuck with the game- such as was. So fine - everyone can go home, heal up, meditate, whatever it takes... boys we will see playoff next year right? Right?
On another note - what a classless move on the Washington Redskins ownership part - you fire a guy when gets home from his last game of the year at 2AM? Really? You couldn't wait one freaking day and give the man a small slice of dignity? Classless was the only word I could think of this morning... should be an interesting off season for that team...
Ok so Football is done - hockey is in a losing streak - sports is not being fun right now. I have lots of reading material... I'll stick to that.
Stay warm, put a few extra rocks in your pockets to keep to the ground and we'll talk tomorrow.

Welcome to 2010
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Did you make to midnight? We did --- mostly. I nodded off about 11:15 and woke again at 11:40 and told Bubba to get the bubbly ready. We watched the ball drop, kiss, kiss, sip sip - and night night. We are such party animals..
Dinner last night went well, over cooked the steaks just a hair but still were pretty good. Lobster was very good, the chocolate cake - super fab - but then again that is where my taste buds live.
Fast forward to today... busy busy busy.
Bubba was nice enough to do a bagel run this morning so we had fuel to get everything done for the day... I was super productive, I had all the prep work done, all the before snacks ready to go AND had 15 minutes to myself... I know! It's almost like I was organized or something! The spirit of Super woman came down and waved her magic pixie dust this morning... then took it with her when it came time to get this dinner on the table...
Let me 'splain.... Pork roast was done sooner than I planned but that was OK I covered and let it sit in the pan... then I almost burnt the cabbage but I saved that so it was just a browner in a few spots - still edible.. gravy - no sweat we used Aunt Ing's secret recipe (in comes in a jar), potatoes were fine, sweet potatoes were OK I think I over glazed them... it got thick... not sure what I did there... but they were eaten. The fun part? Shattered my Pyrex pan... idiot - and it had the sauerkraut in it... I was able to save the kraut, had to strain the gravy due to finding a shard of glass in that pan... clean up was a nightmare, I've got a new cut on my finger thanks to post dinner clean up and another found shred of glass... Bubba was helpful to a point at that point but he was still cranky. Thankfully his mother told him not to worry these things happen and basically to shut up about it... (These are the days I really like her)
Now I'm going to tell you all a story - the likes of which have never been seen before in this house... Bubba today was (listen closely) HELPFUL!! Believe it or not! I know! He cleaned and cut celery, he peeled potatoes, he even cut up two onions... now granted the second one was a bit large and small chunks but it worked for what it was.. and I was one less thing I had to do... That is what gave me those 15 minutes to myself... that and forgetting the horseradish for the cocktail sauce... So give up the kudos to Bubba - he was a helpful boy today. Perhaps we could dare to hope this will be the start of something new in this new year... BWAAA HA HA HA... ahem. Sorry.
Now he is watching the Rose Bowl with his young co-worker friend, he is fed and happy let's keep it that way for a while shall we?
Happy New Year! Love Aunt Ing.
