Man and machine...

And now I wish this thing had sound effects... as possibly mentioned before the lawn mower is on it's last legs and has been since late last summer. I was mentioned to a certain penny-pitching-until-the-buffalo-releases person that the time to indeed buy a new lawn mower would be as winter was approaching and folks didn't need one. Did he? No, he looked they weren't on sale so he waited... and now here I sit listening to... BRRRRRR cough die. BRRRRRRRRRRRR cough die. Repeat as necessary... of course now as I type it's been running for a solid 4 minutes, whoops just heard a hick - no up or then it would have died again.

I did mention to him to "just go buy an new one..." but he just gets that Bubba grin on his face as says, "It's a matter of pride now" And it just died again. I can't begin to imagine what tinkering he's done with this thing already today - I was off helping the ladies group (more on that later) the grass is high as we have (as the weather man puts it) that great high warm spring sun and RAIN. For darn near two days - oh and did I mention last week we had 3 days with 90 degree heat! It was wonderful for both man and beast and of course the lawn. Which he is now trying to bail with the lawn mower being held together with twine and bubble gum. Whatever. He thinks since he replaced the belts in the vacuum cleaner he's Mr. Fix-it. Heaven help me then.

Although Bubba did give credit to YouTube for helping with the vacuum cleaner and I quote: "I finally found a use for YouTube - it showed me where the belts were and how to take them off and put them on." Hurray for me. But he's right (make note I won't admit to that very often) it was a better vacuum than the one I bought to replace it. Cleaning tools he'll spend the big bucks on... gag me with a spoon.

Sounds like we're humming along again, cross your fingers. Honestly I have no dog in this fight I don't do grass - the mowing there off -- get your mind out of the gutter really. So if he wants to fight the good fight with that old one - go for it. I've got other things to do. Usually involving his dirty clothes or dishes.

In other news, today was the Ladies' Group Yard sale, thank goodness I was on the late shift, and that meant I got to box up the left over "stuff' and move heavy tables but from what I saw there was a good amount of "stuff" gone and a good pile of money in the box. Of course I did my share, another bag of books for Bob's Grandmother and a pile of miscellaneous stuff for the girls, and a big pink box with a lid and a latch for my brother's nieces or my sisters kid to haul stuff around. It's got paint splatters on it and I'll clean it up a bit but if they beat the living daylights out of it - who cares I paid a $1. I thought it was neat.

The rest of the day looks like bills being paid, balance the ladies' group check book, and figure out what I'm cooking to go with the Hockey Night in Germantown. Our Pens are in the hunt again - and I'm not going to jinx it so we're not going to say any more...

On the other hand - it was a great deal of fun to watch that team just light it up at the last regular season game at Mellon Arena - aka the Civic Arena. My long ago memory of that place? Seeing Rick Springfield with the roof open (it doesn't anymore) with me, my sister the two girls next door and our Moms... who the whole way home said they were going to be deaf for the next year... You know I wish that I had Jesse's Girl... *sigh* He was dreamy.

Cripes I'm old. Off to go cry on my record albums - and everyone I know knows what THOSE are...

died again... and I don't think we're done with the front yard yet... it smaller than the back.
