Now what exactly is a cake walk - no idea. I LIKE the idea of a walk with cake - frankly anything with cake in my mind is a good thing and right off the bat I have wandered down the side path... Getting back to how freaking EASY last week was... compared to the two days that have graced this week...
Now I begin with Friday - frankly a good day all around, out brief from audit all is good, boss is happy late lunch home early, got the shopping done, the girls went to the dance dumped kids and done. (Another Mom hosted the sleep over -as Bubba and his bazaar travel schedule prevented me from doing it -- oh darn)... Bubba is up and gone at 0-dark 30 Saturday morning... the girls let me sleep in to 2 hours past 0-dark-30-- ish. Any who we're up, they are fed, watered and mellow and that pretty much was the theme for the weekend.
Neighbor did call, had the little black pup for a bit Saturday night - other than the drop off and pick up - (LOTS of barking) that too was pretty mellow. Sunday, again, LOVELY day, girls are in and out and all is cool, got a few things done, did give them a bath... oh what fun that was. We went to bed early, I had to get up before frankly people should be permitted to be awake... but I digress again and here we go...... Up at 4:30 because I have to be in VA by 6:30 for a place to park and deal with the rest all job related... then work all day but got to leave early. Home love pups, feed pups fill out paper work for Tuesday's ALL DAY briefing, go to my meeting, it runs long, home watch the two shows I taped, realized it's after 10 and again I must be up before god, man and chickens... only to have Violet start puking and puking and she kept going for about 45 minutes - with rests in between to give me clean up time (thanks girl) and when we reached 45 minutes and our 5th round of puke, and now she on shaky legs (looking drunk and hung over poor thing) I flipped out call the emergency Vet, got dressed (wearing sweatpants and PJ's post meeting) locked up Shelby who wasn't happy about that and raced to the ER Vet.
They took her back, I sat and watched football... pushing midnight, fluids, tests, like to keep her, here is an ESTIMATE of the costs (think mortgage payment MINE!) Yeah, ok, talk to Bubba who was supportive, nice and had I not been up since 4:30 that morning I would have asked who this was and did I dial the right number?!
Finally I got to see her, she looked so pathetic, her eyes kept darting back and forth, she was still drooling, she puked on the tech, and gave her a nice runny present... I leave a deposit - oh so not kidding. And head home, the time is 1:00 AM.
I fall into bed, debating my briefing today... but they are keeping her, so I going to try and go in... which means I'm up at 4:30 again. Actual time out of bed, closer to 5:15. Of Course on the way home I give Bubba an update - and for those of you not keeping score at home; for the THIRD time this year he is in Las Vegas. Now he's back to the Bubba I know and live with (love was hard to come by at that moment) as he's yelling at me not to make stupid decisions and rack up one hell of a bill. Too late.
THEN he oh so nicely calls me back at 2-something AM to apologize... at least I think it was him, frankly I'm amazed I was able to answer the phone. Motor skills with brain power was so not happening. So hung up from him honestly don't know what I said to the man frankly if it was anything above grunts and clicks I'd be amazed.
SO... alarm goes off, I manage to shower, dress, apply makeup (it wasn't fancy!) Feed and tend to Shelby and find my way to where I needed to go. I got there, plenty of time, got done what I needed to get done and got outta there... Did I mention no cell service? Just one of those buildings and one of those places. I did warn the vet last night - they apparently got hold of Bubba. Who when leaving messages for me didn't realize "this thing was all freaking day."
It's called listening honey - you should try it sometime.
So, "lucky" me got out 45 minutes earlier than expected. Checked in with office mate - all is good. Bubba was on a plane by the time I got out - so dodged that bullet and headed to see my Violet. She's getting an echo on her heart, been checked by a Neurologist (for free! - he had a student with him.. hey you almost a vet) she's eaten but her eyes are still zippy. They told me this is an old dog thing, she will recover but it could take as long as a week or so. In the meantime I get a pup with a drunken issue. Up side I'm home mostly the rest of the week so that is something.
As of 5:00 pm Tuesday she's still at the hospital, but I expect a call about 6 ish to go get her... now issue is I've got a practice tonight. I can't bag it but I will demand my part goes first so I can get out of there. Screw the opening I'll figure it out.
My new life motto - I'll sleep when I'm dead. Which should be some time Saturday. Off to do dinner.
And no I still haven't fixed the computer at home yet... I figured about 2 AM tonight would be great time to try that...
Awwww, give Violet hugs for me! Poor girl... and poor Snuggie too! Sounds like a week from hell!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and my poor Violet, and of course Shelby. *hug*
