Sun, hockey, and a good bye

Friday - ah Friday. But this one was different, I packed up the last bits in my office, said good by to the two people still in the office and headed home at 1:00 PM after an arrival of 10:10 AM. Like there was a lot to do, say or be bothered with. Turned in the blackberry - down to one cell phone not 100% sure that is a good thing but hey one less thing to lose right?

I start Monday - like a dork. Best to jump in I guess. I got my marching orders late Friday so that at least is set.

As I left work early had dinner planned, I was counting on at least a couple of hours of peace and quiet to digest the ending of the comfortable slipper job and starting of the one that I'm going to equate to "girl shoes". Hey it's a new challenge right? I will keep telling myself that until I get over the what the heck was I thinking panicked voice inside my head keeps shouting. Any who - I'm popping home, mixed emotions, and who should call but Bubba telling me he'll be home to mow the grass in about 90 minutes and could I do the doggie land mine scoop and disposal. Well crap - not only poof goes my peace and quiet time - I get stuck with the crappy job-- literally. So fine, I putz, I do, and while I'm off tending to my book swap stuff - he manages to get home... with an additional hour tacked on to his original ETA home. Color me surprised - he blamed traffic. ;-) It probably was - big accident when I headed home - and from reports on the radio it had things stacked up MILES away - and of course from the other side - everyone has to stop and look at the pretty red and blue lights as they blink away.... I on the other hand think it is a time to go! yeesh.

I've got a Rainbow trip tomorrow and for all that driving I might as well take a left turn and visit the family - but alas I cannot so I stay, smile and wonder why I do this to myself. Of course then I get all into "my" girls doing well and succeeding - and I don't wander. And I remember to smile and not smirk at the woman in charge - who dislikes me intensely - but I have the most state office holders in MD. Nah, nah nah... hee hee hee. Not that I mind or anything.

Its supposed to rain - all day. Yeah driving in the rain - what fun. On the upside, my kid who is usually late by 15-20 minutes isn't coming so we've got a chance of getting on the road on time unless I get running late too... I try not to... I will post the Saturday travels Sunday - I will get home too late to deal with a computer - trust me.

Now one final thought as Bubba is watching his hockey playoffs in fine DVR tape delay I set onto the computer to get directions for tomorrow and post a few random thoughts. As I sit in here typing - in the room with the computer, dog crates and two plants desperately looking for a new home, (stories of my black thumb are legendary) my darling husband pauses his beloved hockey game and asks (wait for it) "What are you doing in there?" As I plant my forehead firmly on the desk again I ask - 1) what does he care and 2) seriously? I know you hear the click of the nails on the plastic crap keyboard, what darling Bubba do you THINK I'm doing in here?

Talking about you to the 4 people who read this drivel regularly - and Nana. ;-) All right off to take out the contacts, put on sweat pants and organize stuff for tomorrow. And think seriously about a drink before bed - maybe two... nah - I gotta get up and be functional in the AM. We'll do one and crash hard. This has been one strange day...

Endings, beginnings, and a lousy hockey game. Fridays don't usually suck this bad. The pizza was good tonight - and homemade!
