The in-laws - arriving tonight so poof goes my evening of prep and shopping time and 4 hours of vacation as I now must take Friday morning off to make do from this SURPRISE.
They are on their way as we speak... to my house which thankfully is clean. To take us to dinner - and stay the night. Oh goodie. Then they are heading to the beach for a week plus and then swinging back to visit after next weekend... ok fine. No worries I've got the vacation time, I've got a plan - I didn't count on the extra load of laundry and losing a night to get things done but hey - she needs to see her boy and I certainly can't say anything about that - after railing how my husband's family basically ignore him ... they decide to visit. Makes me wonder why they are insisting on coming down? My twisty dark places are thinking conspiracies theories - these are not happy thoughts. I guess I'll find out in a few hours or it could be as stupidly simple as - we wanted to see you and break up our trip.
We shall see. On the upside, my kitchen is clean as is the living room and the bathroom, things are ready - mostly - as long as they don't look in our bedroom... :-D It's my space leave me alone.
So, made up a new plan last night, got things together and figured yes I'm going to have to take Friday morning off as there isn't enough time in a day to make this all work. Bubba this morning was already in cranky mode... I ignored him. The upside of this - no commute, an empty grocery store Friday morning time alone to get myself organized and ready and deal with the rest...the house will be warm for a bit as I've got to do a bit of cooking - but mostly organization, sauces, prep and list making for Sunday. How does this happen? A month of bliss - now a month of GO! I will do my best to keep my yap shout about going to camp NEXT weekend - Mama J may get her nose out of joint with 2 family weekends in a row. Hey invite us to something - and we'll show up -- unless someone has a $500 trip to Vegas planned. Not going there!
I will say that I have been efficient this week - every night I had a series of tasks to complete - see my lists have lists comment earlier in the week -- and for the most part I have gotten them done. It also helps Bubba has been watching some seriously crappy movies - so good time to get things done. Having the mum-in-law arrive a day early simply shifted Thursday night to Friday morning and got me moving to get some additional things done last night that I had planned for tonight. AND bonus no cooking tonight.
Plus I have no worries about work tomorrow my boss, my gov boss, my office mate and several other team mates will NOT be in so who the heck was going to be here to miss my morning 4 hours? Exactly. Watch something blow up then I'll hear it. Ah well.
I've still got an hour to kill - perhaps a nap. Stay cool... With any luck tomorrow I'll have time to post good in-law gossip - or not.
