and then Monday it's supposed to get HOT... today is considered "summer" but when Shelby doesn't want to be outside for anything longer than 5 minutes its hot. Things have remained quiet until I had to be the bad guy at work on Friday - we had a meeting with our 'big' internal customer that morning, this is a major project with lots of executive chefs in the kitchen watching and waiting for an actual cook to screw up.... we've been that cook pointed out for not chopping the veggies properly it's not a place any of us care to be in again. So at the end of the meeting I understood we were to produce a table with all the data detailed in the meeting.
They poor tester guy thought it was the data displayed which was 1/2 the table filled out. I checked with my office mate in the meeting - he concluded the same as I the entire table. Feeling guilty I tried to round up help for the poor guy who told ME it would take HOURS to get the data together - he said in the meeting - he HAD the data. Next time speak up dorkus. ANY way I finally find his manager and say dude - he needs help and surprise he gets it and his help is done way before he is! What are you doing down there?? (the hallway) SOO ... hours later when frankly it should have taken him 1 hour tops, it's done I set it out all pretty and ready to go he goes home with the bonus of not working Monday. Prego.
It is an odd dynamic at work, we all basically work for different contractors but for one government person and yet this team that mostly works for one small boss guy also on our team they keep to themselves. Fun. Had I known this going in - would have taken the other job in Maryland. But as I interviewed with the government person and not the other contractors we get what we get and we make the most of it. Besides, who knows what the next month or year will bring? I'm happy to ride this train for a while.
So Saturday with another unplanned weekend I was thinking was going to be a bit Bubba free but alas - he decided NOT to work the weekend. I know! Of course that may also explain the temperatures in DC... anyway. Saturday we're up, putzing we head out to lunch, a place he saw on Diners, Drive Ins and dives when looked up on the web has since closed due to tax issues. Thanks Montgomery County Maryland, next he looks up a place on his phone - we arrived closed due to vacation. OK I'm headed back toward home - remember this place on the way pull in and LUNCH! And a good one too, Mexican ate my first tamale, not bad. To quote my red-neck roots I would describe it this way, it's like they took grits only grinded them up finer, stuffed them with some good pulled pork with a bit of spicy and put Mexican green sauce on it. Like I said good eatin' ;-)
After the largest meal I've eaten in freaking forever we got home, he mowed the lawn, I putzed trying to digest so I could maneuver and put together my second book case. I made a grocery list, did coupons- Bubba went shopping and managed to forget something on the list - again. He swears he put the burgers (turkey) in the cart and yet none made it home, nor on the checkout receipt. While Bubba shopped I got the bookcase together, finished after he got home due to the "hey-lady-its-my-dinner-time" interruption which involved Shelby standing on my boards in my face with her tongue. Yes, love you too pup - I figured I was almost done, fed them and sat for an hour. Not my brightest move. But I did get up and get finished, Bubba helped with the last step of anchoring it to the wall it comes with a bracket for that - yeah I bought the high quality cheap crap didn't I? ;-)
HEY! They are sturdy and well built if I do say so myself; just not terribly well balanced. Hence the wall mount. Now today's project is to get books from hiding places up to the bookshelves. That might work off 5 bites of that Mexican lunch I so enjoyed yesterday.
All right off to pay bills, deal with the checkbook, laundry and book hauling. And let's not forget our usual, dinner, kitchen, oh crap tomorrow is Monday ritual. Bonus for this week? Working 3 days this week - taking Thursday and Friday off!! Thursday is my birthday - and I can't believe I'm that freaking old. Plus I have lots of fun stuff planned, like waiting for the bug guys to come spray for ants, getting my driver's license renewed, shoe shopping - because I have coupons, getting my nails done, a hot stone massage and a concert with the Bubba. Stay tuned because who knows what the first three days of the week will bring...
