Ain't half bad if you take the day off - and the next as well followed by a weekend. And between you and me this little break has been more relaxing than the vacation I took with the hubby! No car deals, no packing and forgetting because I'm home and it's all here, no strange bed, no worrying about pups because we're home together - there is something to be said for a stay-cation. Especially one sans the hubby... now I must confess he really hit one out of the park last night - and he had a great story to go with it...
Now I recall last week or so a not so gentle reminder of the 5th anniversary of my 39th birthday... and that all I wanted was flowers - and I also told him to bring one of my vases to the giant floral shop and they could do something nice I like daisies, and sunflowers, and roses - enjoy. I mean really boys and girls how easy can I make for the man outside of doing it myself? Which I won't do dag nabbit. Any way... as he has been working like a rented mule these past weeks I made plans with my working buddies to go out to dinner last night - and he has to be home on time (early even) tonight so we can make our concert. When I got home, I did feel a bit guilty as he was home eating left overs and I had just finished the best meal of the month. I'll get to all that in a minute... as I was saying we were upstairs, I asked how his day was, talked about things that happened... I asked him if he saw the flowers the neighbor brought over, he said yes and pointed to the dining room table. It was there I saw my blue vase filled with lovely colored roses, and 3 huge yellow and orange sunflowers --- it was beau-ti-ful!!! I thanked him and it was all lovely then he quips "I wish all your flowers were that cheap." Now I looked at him and asked, "how come?" With a bit of prodding as if he's telling some state secret - he tells the following tale.
Apparently Mr. Plan Ahead took my vase in Saturday when he went grocery shopping, made arrangements with the store flower lady to get this done, she indicated to him that while she would be out until Monday and not in Wednesday evening all he had to do was get another warm body and they can get the arrangement. Fine, good, done. Bubba the hero. However, apparently grocery store flower lady didn't read her own book and didn't bother to make said arrangement so when our hero entered the store full of vim and vigor to pick up his gift - it wasn't there, he gathered one manager and then that befuddled manager grabbed the STORE manager and apparently between the two them managed to arrange the lovely flowers now sitting in my dining room. I figured Bubba would have been ranting and raving - but no he said he was pretty calm as the manager was plenty ticked on his behalf and I'm guessing he ate a big discount on those flowers and put in HIS little book a quiet chat with the flower lady who didn't do what was on her to-do book. Bubba indicated he saw the big red note on the book of "why wasn't this done on time?" Ouch.
But again lovely flowers, Bubba the hero and all is well.
Thursday was a good day - I was up too early but got the new family truckster into the dealership for the idiot light check, the recall to add something to stop rocks and crap from getting to parts it shouldn't be in and apparently a computer upgrade. OK - but it also meant I was sans car for the day... not cool a I had to get to the MVA Thursday as well - as that was the last day for my license to drive to be valid. I had a few anxious moments - but everything came out in the wash, bug guy arrived, late which is unusual for him, but he took care of Bubba's ant issue (he saw 2 and figured he was paying for this - he could call --or make me do it) So that was done, I bummed a ride from the neighbor boy to the dealership as the shuttle van guy was running late and I was in a tizzy to get to the MVA - got my car, it smelled and looked as if it had been washed again - which is probably the total number of times the old one had been washed it's entire life with me... poor thing.
I zipped down to the MVA express as the last time I had to do this - they were easy and quick, and again same thing - in out done in 25 minutes. AND she took my picture twice because the first picture "didn't come out nice enough - smile big!". Fine whatever. This picture makes my forehead look as if I've got a cone head in my family tree - not terribly flattering lighting... ah well. Still better than my work badge....
So then dinner Thursday night with my friends C and A I haven't seen C in a long time - she looked great! She's doing the 3 day 60 mile walk and must be really working out! She now has the time as she got laid off recently but she's smart and educated she'll get hired soon.... We had Thai food that was really good, fish, and duck and noodles with appetizers and dessert - OMG I was full and full. It was great company and good food and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed listening to those two argue over some point. :-D Yeah I'm a nerd.
So Friday - ah Friday while not officially "the day" I didn't go into work - pre planned relax people, I was up with Bubba, he went off to work, he did offer to go to lunch together - (I KNOW) but as I had my hot stone massage scheduled for noon and he didn't want to eat at 2... we planned for dinner and a concert. He left, I putzed, finally showered, ate breakfast got some things done, then locked up the pups and headed out. First to the bank, I put money in and I took money out. (that would be the purpose of a bank - just in case y'all didn't know), headed to the shoe store as they sent me a "it's your birthday day spend your money and we'll give you $10 buck off... yeah - drop 90 get 10 back. Oh and remember all this Bubba is a nice guy stuff because it will come come rushing down when the credit card bill comes in and he sees said shoe purchase! I love shoes - I bought two completely impractical but fun shoes - granted I will not be power walking in these bad boys but they are fun, and just a bit different - AND one pair came from the clearance rack! I always check there first. I couldn't find any sandals on clearance that I liked so I had to pay "full" price for the sandals a wedge shoe with fun straps and stuff... like I said generally impractical and I did practice walking on them to be 100% sure I could before making the buying commitment. This is important people... there must be some level of walking ability in a strappy shoe with a major wedge. Chicks will get that - if any guy happens to read this blog - he has NO clue about the shoes and why I complain so much about my husband. ;-)
Anyway--- shoes purchased, Aunt Ing is a happy girl, and then off to my hot stone massage... ahhhhh oh yeah babe. Rub-ba, Rub-ba, Rub-ba Aunt Ing nodded off a bit and then all too soon it was over and I was rubbery jello and very happy camper. Then I picked up Bubba's dry cleaning and headed home to the pups. Grabbed lunch and then decided to finish my afternoon in lazy style. I did a load of laundry. LOL
Oh and did I mention that while waiting for the bug guy I moved all MY books to my birthday bookshelves?! I did and was so proud of them - I took pictures and uploaded them to my facebook page. Toot toot of my own horn, hey! I built the darn things, moved all those books organized them and then took pictures and posted. Major job accomplishment in my world Skippy. Of course it allowed me to find, several books I haven't read or finished - that I remember, and unfortunately two duplicates... up on Paperback swap .com they went. It's be a good productive couple of days and tonight we concert up and who knows what the weekend holds. I'd like to sleep in... let's see what we can do about that.
LATER!
OH! last thought - I got a gift from my former office mate - a yellow shirt with the following emblazened on the back and smaller on the front.. "The Burgh" A drinking town with a Championship Problem - Amen Sister Amen. (and yes my friends know don't they?)
