The snow that wasn't

And Aunt Ing is SO not complaining... all week we have been 'teased' with the possibility of snow - inches and inches of snow... falling upon our little heads this weekend - stay tuned, could it be another snow-maggenden?  No it could be the weather man thinking he's going to get more air time if he pumps up the possibility of snow... and here we sit Sunday with a cloud in the sky, the sun shining, cooler temps than Saturday (it was 56 here Saturday -- in February!)  Today on Sunday we will see the 40's.  And tonight sometime we might see a flake - or a rain drop  depending upon which way the wind may blow, the one cloud's mood to produce a water like substance and whatever else is in the air... I don't ask anymore.

This weekend - before March hits in full frontal force has been nice, mostly.   Bubba for some unknown reason was up EARLY Saturday so we sort of got moving, then he started the taxes we went out to breakfast, I dumped him home gathered up his shirts, cleaned up the kitchen, hit the dry cleaners, then got my hair done, got my nails done, picked up a few things for dinner, came come screwed up 3 nails that I thought were dry - dealt with it, made dinner, and made our way next door for another rousing game of Power Grid.   We had new neighbors playing with us...

I must tell you something funny that happened at the hair salon on Saturday.   I was all foiled up with more goop in my hair prepared to enjoy a few quiet moments in a Saturday busy hair salon when I saw a neighbor - a neighbor we would be playing Power Grid with that night... we chatted discovered we shared a hair dresser and a love for the magic potion that makes our hair color not white.   We each did our thing, I left we met up again with fabulous hair and drinking...

Sunday thus far has been quiet - Bubba did a bagel run, all good... not for the points but hey.   I have meals planned if not a grocery list done, Shelby has been in and out soaking up the sun - which appears to have gone into hiding as the one cloud mentioned earlier has apparently called some friends or face booked or something... whatever.  I am waiting for Bubba to get home, then I'll go shopping  the pups should have one cage free day.   But does it really matter where they sleep?  ;-)

I've done some face book surfing - apparently my brother arose from his bed about 1:00 PM today - and his wife felt it necessary to post that on face book.... blogging is entirely different - really.  ;-)  LOL...

We'll make this quick - I'm going to putz about the house, do the laundry and get some other things done before Mr. Massaged gets home... and pops the quiet.

Have you seen the sun tornado?

There is the video - pretty cool - and something fun for a Friday...

Sun tornado - Thanks Nat Geo...

Moving on to life's more mundane things... including me struggling with a diet, Bubba being - well Bubba, and life in general just getting in the way.   Let's see after Tuesday's extra long day and me managing to piss off 2 wives, my car pooler and one of the testers... I have apologized again and again neither of these women work.... I say nothing here...........  ahem.   Moving on.   I cooked Tuesday for Valentine's Day, I cooked new receipe Wednesday healthy stuff, last night post dealing with Girl's group paperwork that was now late - and a run to the bank to make the deposit so that the check I wrote would be covered... paying an outrageous fee to  Fed Ex to Baltimore - I could have driven it myself cheaper - but ... that whole working thing.   And I can track the package... so I'm paying for the cool technology and the gas of the 3 trucks it will take to get it from point A to point B.

So after all that I really wasn't in the mood to cook, so I called Bubba asked if he would mind picking up dinner which digressed into stupidity of who knows - then finally he agreed to pick up a pizza.   I made salads.  Which surprisingly I managed to work into the diet.   I am a lazy person at heart and all this cooking and planning and crap is starting to make me crazy.  I know me I need to plan ahead better, and lay out most of the week - lunches, dinners and such that way when I get home from a long day it's mostly done and tended.   Today some helpful harry brought in doughnuts (but you don't have to eat them)  DO you KNOW me?  Yeah I had one, counted it - figured lettuce wasn't such a bad lunch and broth for dinner would be very filling - after a brisk 3 mile hike.  I'll be fine. (you are over reacting) - and I'm starting to hate that inner voice of mine - she used to be a lot more fun (we're starving here)  Yeah -a lot more fun.

MOVING on...  I am not starving - I've had doughnuts - doughnut.. singular and I can't walk across the hall where my team sits or I will be tempted by the sugar, flour, fat, fried to perfection, with chocolate, sugar glaze, frosting - and ... (STOP - STOP NOW....)  Ahem.   Carrots - carrots are pretty, and orange and crunchy and ... (not doughnuts) good for me.. and our waist line and they are zero points I can have as many as I want, and Shelby likes them and --- who the F am I kidding?    oh SO moving on from this.

So, the week that was - was too farting long, but we are leaving early today - Monday is a Federal Holiday - and while I am working Monday it will be in blue jeans and mellow with a planned lunch out... probably a salad.   (NO!) This has got to stop.    Anyway - quiet weekend also planned with Beauty day Saturday just made a hair appointment and the magic potion will make that strange white color in my hair go away for a bit... plus I'm going to let her cut away - the last time I did my hair looked great!  Bubba will have to just suck it up.   You do not have to fight with long hair at 5:30 in the AM darling husband - it's on my head - hush you face.

Tuesday promises to be fun in all the wrong ways - I have to go back to the girl doctor for another test - and they tell you take a couple of Tylenol about an hour before - there might be some 'cramping'.   Oh goodie.  Then to work, as we have our weekly staff meeting and another afternoon meeting -then I go to ANOTHER  chubby surgery doctor... up side?  This doctor takes BOTH of the insurances - so minimal out of pocket expeneses, which make Bubba happy - but wait until he has to fight VA traffic to take me to the hospital.  No comment.   The rest of week post Tuesday should be a freaking cake walk.

Having a Spa Day party next Sunday - still don't know how I got talked into this - but I did.  Bubba will be pissed - as frankly he can just stay downstairs and watch TV - or go somewhere - and I could tell him exactly WHERE to go... but again wandering down dark and twisty paths... whatever.

Hey - guessed who just called to yell at me because my phone didn't disconnect properly and he can't delete a message until the end?   LOL!  Oh well... is it my fault your voice mail system sucks?  Ignore it.  I got his usual answer of no idea what time he will be home - fine.  I'll be home early, and yes dear - again - I will take the poopy job of cleaning up the back yard, and unload the dishwasher - and reload it - and wash the pans that don't go in there, and get Shelby some kibble so she can have dinner tonight - and load up your shirts for the dry clean run Saturday - before I get my hair and nails done - and then planning next week's dinners, lunches and other necessary items.... I should have gotten something more than that small bundle of flowers on Tuesday---- butthead.  OF course the only thing he mentioned was the back yard - the rest in Bubba-land are the area of the magic fairies - these things just happen...

Ok so I had better enjoy my last 'free' weekend, because next weekend is the Girl's group book sale, the Spa Party on Sunday, then EVERY weekend in March is booked.   Ah - Maryland Masonic organizations and their yearly turn over.. March is a very very busy month.   What fun - and I usually managed to screw up a greeting or handshake between the kids, the ladies and the Shriners.... fun and fun.

Basically if you want to contact me - do it at work, I'll need the nap.  :-)

I'll try and post after make-Ing-lovely-day - also known as Saturday.... if we really like the haircut might post that too... don't hold your breath.

Happy Valentine's Day...

Yeah - whatever.   OK, OK, OKAY!  Yes I have a "sweetie" and I'm sure there will be something along in his day to make him remember to pick up flowers for the "wife" he sees once a week - and I will be happy.   I also have dinner planned, and a card for darling Bubba - so we do that whole 'romance' thing our own way.   Like we do anniversaries - with football games - with other people.  Don't judge.  It works for us.

And after this weekend, its sounding like a better and better deal.  OH Saturday was great - both our plans got cancelled Bubba's due to teenage issues (friend's son) and mine due to weather.   So we were very mellow Saturday, went to breakfast, got DVD's and  munchies and laid like broccoli all afternoon... and with me fighting a cold - that was mighty nice.  Then Sunday came, Bubba went and had a massage apparently his therapist found his cranky button and worked it hard.  I find it amazing that anyone could enjoy a 90 minute massage and come home grumpy - yet somehow Bubba did.

Of course I was the cause of all things cranky, the usual I'm spending us into the poor house, I am a nightmare to budget for... and I went over my minutes on the cell phone last month -whoops.  First time in a year...apparently when he is not home I like to talk to people.  Fine I will use the home phone now worries there.  Of course he rambled on and on about whatever - it all turns into Charlie Brown's teacher's voice after a while.  Because as we all know - I am the gal who spends her paychecks at Sacks, and Neiman Markus and other stores like Wal-Mart and Amazon... yeah I know.

Last month the Visa bill was a bit high due to puppy medical issues - we knew this still he muttered.  The other card, had HIS birthday present on it... and he grumped until he was reminded what it was... whatever.  Maybe it was a delayed reaction of talking to his mother on Saturday and Sunday when he got rubbed it tripped some mother-induced cranky that just spilled all over me.  If that is the case then I will stop asking him if he has phoned home lately.  Yeesh.

We are half way through February... time enough to document what I've spent... let's see:
New bathroom scale,
New pedometer
New food scale
Grand Assembly payment - ouch
Zoe's birthday present
oh and a Valentine's Day card for tightwad, and a birthday card for the sis-in-law....

and of course the usual, groceries, gas and occasional lunch... whew jump back Jack I'm going through my paycheck like it was illegal to have money.   (yawn)

I really do need to befriend a shrink to figure Bubba out - heaven knows he won't go on his own - in Bubba land he's perfect - to the rest of the world - well good think his mama likes him.  ;-)  all right I do like him on occasion - his taste in TV shows is sometimes questionable - see enough Tru Blood to last me a life time - barf.  Blood guts, gore - then naked boobies and sex.  Watch that after I'm in bed - which is earlier and earlier these days...

Digressing.

Fun story after all this hearts and flowers I shower over my beloved - my dog Violet.  She doesn't want to get up in the early morning with her mama anymore.  Shelby on the other hand is scratching at the bathroom door - in a fit of - hurry up lady there is kibble at the end of this ... ah Shelby her needs are so easy.  If only her father were more like her.   Again wandering.. so I have to get Violet awake, moving and on occasion vertical.  That usually involves a hand or foot on her back end and a gentle nudge... she will get up then immediately begin to hound wound to lay back down again... in the mean time Shelby has been up and down the stairs at least 4 times with the look on her face - "Are you ready?  Is it kibble time?  Can I pee now?"

Oh sure it's all cute until Shelby starts to bark and it wakes the bear named Bubba... then not so much.   But we have a routine, and it's working even if Violet and her mama are tired and cranky first thing in the morning. There is always watching Shelby eat peanut butter to make you smile.

So 'let me sum up' (say it with an accent it works)  - Hug your sweetie, be they the tightwad you married, the furry four legged creature you share space with or the man in the mirror - you're loved no matter who or where you are.   Oh - and indulge in a piece of cake today - life is too short to save dessert for later. (or at least until after you weigh in - 1:00 PM today)
