And it's not over yet! But let's start at the beginning shall we? Left work did the beltway crawl all the day home, got to the store, loaded up with party essentials, came home and Bubba took me out to dinner! Nice but ordering in would have been more helpful with the party prep-- but we let that one go!
Got 9/10's of everything done and then my guests of honor arrived!! She was tired and not terribly social but since sister dear brought the baby we forgave her. ;-) Everyone crashed and I was up at the crack of dawn with my inners in full revolt so 2 tums and puppy breakfast later, I was making bread (from a mix -seriously people) and for the party. Finished up the last minute stuff, we had play time and toast with peanut butter for breakfast, showered changed, played, got stuff ready and the baby crashed. (so did Mommy)
So folks arrived, not as many as planned but this happens we sampled and savored and laughed and enjoyed. Vodka slushie was a big hit - sauces and dips all enjoyed beer bread was sampled with everything and for dessert Almond pound cake, strawberry cream cheese ball and a strawberry and rubarb sauce. I stuck with the pound cake as the strawberry stuff didn't do much for me...
So, party enjoyed, everyone went home, we munched and played and took the puppies for a walk, Uncle Bubba was a good doobie and went and got calzones and salads for dinner, and we all crashed hard.
Sunday morning we were up and playing and having fun again Uncle Bubba was the good guy and went to get bagels... which we all enjoyed... then a doggie walk while Mommy was showering and we all noted that a certain little one was getting nap time cranky. Kisses, hugs, smiles and last minute scoops - and away then went. And they left home - alone - with Bubba. Yeah...
Now as I type this "we" are working on putting his resume onto the government get me a Fed Job site - so then he won't have to work again. ;-) Now I used the "we" for a reason - HE is looking through records to see if we have this piece of information and that Army number but the other "we" is doing all the typing, all the questions and all the form filling out. In between he's grumping at me since we had company "all weekend" and I "opened my mouth" and invited the neighbors over to help eat all this left over dip (and get more orders) he's cranky that they are coming over... deal with and have some more vodka slushie.
So neighbors came and went, I am not done with party stuff... kitchen has been cleaned and sprayed, had to toss a bucket full of Violet food as it was ant infested - sprayed down the entire laundry room scrubbed out her bucket and will refill in the AM. It's a life.
Now the one story that is sooo Bubba... Saturday, he's up and moving and about to leave the house before the invasion - and with the Munchie party lady in the house (remember baby and sis are sleeping) 30 minutes before the START of the party he decides NOW is a good time for lunch - oh yeah heat me up this - and that and I'll be back down after I shower off mowing the lawn. (the chant now is "we have company and witnesses) - I feed his royal highness tossing dishes into the magic machine and then my guests arrive Bubba leaves and i am oh - so greatful for vodka slushies and witnesses.
Now for those of you who would ask "why could he heat up his own lunch of leftovers, 1) it makes him cranky to do things for himself 2) it's his mother's fault 3) it got him out of MY kitchen and out of the house that much faster and 4) because he's Bubba and doing for himself is something so completely out of character and see reasons 1 AND 2 ... and an unhappy Bubba is a PITA Bubba and I was having a party and a good time...
So now... resume "we" were working on is done, neighbors have come and gone, kitchen is clean and again sprayed for ants, and Mr. Happy is in his throne, watching heaven knows what on TV and I'm in here... googling CSI techniques and how to defeat them. No not really ;-) really - no - yes ... no I'm not.
Stay tuned for what fun filled adventures Monday will bring - like - oh Bubba being unhappy about some mundane thing or something totally out of my control.. you know the easy things Or maybe if we're really lucky - there will be major traffic added to southern idiot code jockies and Staff meeting fun - all that and a barrel full of monkeys and you've got yourself a par-ty.
