The moose from the front of the house today has been spotted, it was last seen mid-December 2009 when the poor thing was buried under the first of what turned out to be many many layers of snow.... he was briefly sighted after the new year when temperatures graces us with hints of 40 degrees - then came... snow-maggdennn and well the poor dear has been lost since the first foot fell... BUT! Today - ah today with temperatures again flirting with the "above the freezing mark" and that "Strong leaning toward spring sun" (these are indeed direct quotes from the idiot radio weather man)... with that combo of things the moose has appeared!!
Now does this have the same significance as that stupid ground hog in Western PA? Well he doesn't have the PR machine nor the carnival like atmosphere that the PA rat does - but to me, in front of my house this boys and girls is a small victory. Now granted there is still 2 feet of snow in the back yard, and the front yard and we still have Mount St. Mailbox (with a more dingy hue) and the towering spires lining the driveway but boys and girls - we have melting! And it gives this girl, snow weary as she is hope that maybe someday I just might see my dead and yellow grass again. Seeing plenty of yellow snow - but that is another conversation altogether.
Today was a quiet day, up WAY to early but got to go home early - for all the good it did me. Still sat in traffic on my way home, and bagged the Wal-Mart as there was a HUGE multi-car accident at the entrance to said Wal-Mart no need to involve ones self in all that multi-cultural red neck drama. Now I say multi-cultural because it is very true, my Wal-Mart is the UN of red necks - who knew? I thought that red-neckerson's were an American thing -- oh no apparently it comes in all nationalities and there for Wal-Mart calls them all... aren't I lucky? But hey who am I to judge - I shop there often enough.. when I need cheap I go there... perhaps there is a slightly pink hue to my neck-tal regions as well - after all there are certainly enough in the family gene pool just waiting to jump up and say "Hey! Yinz goin' dawn tawn?" ;-)
(for those who don't speak Yinzer, that is 'Hey ladies and gentleman are you about to embark on a journey to the down town region?"-- Really)
Its left over night at Aunt Ing's and Uncle Bubba's why? Because we have them and they need eaten. And I'm hoping for take out tomorrow night - or maybe I can figure out something else for dinner. Last night was frankly - what's in the freezer that we can eat... being as it was Ash Wednesday and since I missed mass (by 30 minutes and felt too guilty to barge in..) I figured the very least we could do was not eat meat... which is why he got the culled together dinner he got - that and I was too lazy to go the store... (yeah yeah nag at me later I just can't face it yet)
Ah - but I will and soon as I depart for the land of deep Dixie next week I will need to make sure there are provisions inside the house for Bubba who will then ignore them and eat out. But I need to make sure they are there, the laundry needs done, and I've got to leave a list. Why? do you ask... Bubba may live here but it's kinda like his hotel room, without the daily clean up, he lives here but he has no clue how the place is run. Trust me there will be more than glasses in my clean sink when I get home.
We now have 30 seconds of non-barking from my pups, they will soon be fed and watered and back to barking for some unknown reason, I am in my comfy clothes, wondering why I'm going to drag myself into work tomorrow. Oh yeah - the fun trip to Alabama. Do you think they have a statue to Forrest Gump anywhere? He was from those parts right?
Check back next week for details on that one...
