Oh look - it's snowing...... again

And we're gong to measure it in feet - again. We're going to have to dig out the drive way, the back steps and my sanity - again.

I stupidly went to the grocery store this afternoon - I don't know why... I really didn't NEED anything I got. The idea of a nice warm casserole was the thinking when I went -that and batteries for my radio - just in case... it was still stupid. LARGE mountains of snow in the parking lot, lots of stupid people trying to find the last parking space, shopping buggy, pound of chicken. It was pretty amazing to walk into the grocery store and see empty shelves, big pockets of empty and people standing looking at these shelves like they were going to magically refill themselves. Yeah good luck with that one. I went to the grocery store and Home Depot do you think I could find 2 D cell batteries? Oh no! All the freaking AA and AAA I could want - D cell - no can do...

The news keeps talking about roofs caving in - that freaks me out. My roof has a good foot of snow on it now... we're supposed to get another foot tonight. I'm not going to get any sleep tonight - I'm going to lay there and listen to the roof creak - at least in my head. Then I'll nod off and I'll wake up at 3 AM and take care of business and wonder if I heard a creak... oh yeah 3rd degree on insanity is coming next.

Two surprising things today... as I sat in the office I looked outside to this mound of snow I saw-- A Cardinal! (not the Pope kind the bird kind... please) It was this bright red bird in a see of white and brown (tree branches) he sat there for a while, fluffed his wings and tail feathers, (probably colder then heck) and then he flew away! It was almost a sign... but I can't say what that might be and a quick google search didn't yield me anything useful...so I will take that as a hopeful sign that someday I will again see color outside my window - and for you yucksters who are want to point out that white is a color - kiss my grits.

I am officially sick of snow - it no longer looks pretty it looks like more work, more cold, more crap to fight through to get to work, more lines at the grocery store and more hassles all the way around... ENOUGH ALREADY!!!! Ahem.

Now on the I can't believe this... my cleaning lady showed up today - just as it has really started snowing I offered for her to just go - but she said she was here and they would finish. guilt is crushing me... and I said a small prayer at how very fortunate I am that I can sit at home and work without having to fight all the nut jobs on the beltway right now... thank you

This story was related to me from a friend in VA - he said his newly minted American immigrant neighbors went out and rented a Bobcat (the small earth mover) before the first storm hit - and after it did they went around to their neighbors and for a fee offered to dig out their driveways - I would have paid up!! (and did to the kid next door). THAT boys and girls is American ingenuity!! And a really smart way to make a buck! Way to go - and boy don't you wish you would have thought about it? I think Bubba is going to get a snow blower for Christmas this year - whether he wants one or not... besides there will still be piles of snow around for him to deal with - power up honey!!

Signing off from the winter wonderland... of oh gawd no more!!!

Good thing the dogs are black and brown or I would have lost them days ago...

  1. Just saw that we have the second highest snowfall in the country this winter. My friends in NH and Maine have not had snow at all this year. Vancouver is making snow for the winter Olympics. Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture? Of course not because THE SNOW IS BLINDING YOU! ;-D
