Let me just state for the record I am not terribly fond of working for a living; however, I do enjoy indoor plumbing, air conditioning and meals of my own choosing so I get up and go to work. Now after last week I was looking forward to a more quiet, mellow week and now it appears that will not be occurring. It never does - I guess if this was fun they wouldn't pay us to be here now would they?
On the up side there is Steeler football this weekend - yeah yeah preseason but its football and I enjoy it. On the down side I will be spending my entire weekend getting ready for the painters, which means moving everything into the middle of the rooms, boxing, bagging hiding moving all that stuff we've got around. Fun! Oh and did I mention that darling Bubba would not be home for said moving and boxing and the like? He'll be in NY (more on this later)
On a completely unrelated note I have to share this tidbit... several co-workers and I put in $5 each for the Maryland 200 million jackpot that was drawn Friday. It was fun to think about leaving en mass with that kind of change in our pockets - but alas we managed to pull one darn number per ticket (5 lines of numbers per ticket) ... as such see title (BACK TO WORK). It was a fun exercise for 15 minutes on a Friday afternoon. Next time I'll just stand outside with a long metal pole during a thunderstorm - that will work... Stats nerds state it is more likely to get hit by lightening than to hit the lottery... only 1 of those is a good thing.
On the the head scratch-er of my day... Bubba and several co-workers are traveling to NY to attend an engagement party this weekend. Now said engaged co-worker has rented a house and said attendees are bringing air-mattresses and sleeping bags. Now here is the wrinkle, Bubba (and other guests) had to pony up an additional $30 for food and beverage contributions... um last time I checked when you invite someone as a guest you don't expect them to PAY for said privilege. Not to mention the cost of getting up there and home... Who does this? If you can't afford a big party - don't throw one. Am I wrong? Maybe it's just me.
Had a GREAT weekend with Mom, we enjoyed our girl time and our girl chats and were lazy all yesterday afternoon. A body needs those days every now and again just to give the brain and the body a break. We bought $25 bathing suits originally priced... $100!! First who in their right mind would spend 100 bucks on flipping bathing suit, and two wasn't it a good thing they still had short and chubby sized for moi? So the gals are all ready for our girls-only weekend at the beach in September.
Oh and to the brain trust currently trying to coordinate my working life... making up your freaking mind BEFORE one calls a meeting so the rest of us don't sit here wondering why and how these people came into positions of power - would be my advice. It hurts my head and makes me wonder if the phrase "you want fries with that?" would cause this must stress... they still have pictures on the register I wouldn't even have to think about knowing what a number 4 combo was...right? Of course there is that whole dealing with the public thing... ;-)
Stay cool, enjoy the breathless reporting of Hurricane Bill especially if he makes his way toward the US - of course now that I've poked fun it will hit the Maryland shore and I'll have to drag my dogs outside in the blinding rain so they will go potty outside. Enjoy your Tuesday and be glad it isn't Monday.
